There are always going to be people who don't believe. Perhaps it's more than that they won't believe. Whatever their reasons, they don't stop me from believing, just as I always have. It doesn't matter that they haven't been seen in Valley Green in more than a millennium. That doesn't make them any less real than the griffons populating the wilder places in Laikhostra.
The dragons simply cannot be gone for good. If the rumors about Syl Draconis are true, they must still be alive. Of course, implied immortality doesn't truly equate a person with dragons, now does it? Even if she's the only person alive who can create such living beauty out of bits of crystal and metal. The dragons she carves are the stuff of legends.
No, I don't believe that anyone will ever convince me that dragons have never existed and will never return. The Great Mother wouldn't play that kind of trick on Her children.
Would She?

Ooh... I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have about half a dozen other sneak peeks of this universe that will be up over the next few weeks [don't want to inundate anyone all in one shot], as I move them from their current homes to here.
